Musa Mokoena

After 25-years of experience at Arnot Coal Mine, Musa was retrenched in 2020 when the Coal Supply Agreement (CSA) ended between the Mine and Eskom. Seeing that his passion was cut short within SHEQ, Musa started his own company, Royal Bakoena Services (RBS) and got involved in part-time SHEQ Consulting Services. In 2021, his company partnered with Isisekelo Engineering Services (IES) and is currently involved in different Construction Projects where he is responsible for SHEQ Services. His responsibility within IES is not limited to SHEQ but much broader as he is responsible for Community Development.

Manager, Sustainability | Exxaro Coal | 2010 – 2020

He started as an underground Labourer and went up the ranks until he reached the position of Manager, Sustainability. While at Arnot, Musa was the Head of the following Departments (HOD): Health/Hygiene, Safety, Environment and Community Development. He gained vast experience of Underground and Opencast Mining, Rehabilitation, Plant and Community Development. He did well together with his team, both at the Mine and outside the Mine.
