Paul is the Deputy General Secretary: Strategy and Sustainability of Solidarity, where he is responsible for strategic research and advice to Solidarity, forging and maintaining strategic relationships with external stakeholders and the provision of specialist support to the occupational health and safety department of Solidarity and to Solidarity members.

Before he joined Solidarity, he was the head of the legal department of the SA National Defence Union.

He also served in the Department of Justice in various posts including in the Magistrates’ Courts (Namibia) and the Master of the High Court.

He is an Advocate of the High Court, specialised in, amongst others, occupational health and safety law, labour law and international humanitarian law.
